The Naija Junction Scenarios

Nigeria 2025 scenarios are projections on the future of Nigeria which was released in 2008 by LEAP Africa in collaborations with Aspen Institute to explore and outline the possibilities of future of the nation. By constructing scenarios, the aim is to inform and engage the public and opinion leaders on the main issues that will drive the nation to one type of the future or the order.

Nigeria is at at other times in its tumultuous history really at a crossroads. These 4 scenarios highlight the various options we have as a people and how our choices  could take us in one direction or another as a nation. The scenarios present detailed analyses that have to take place for each to play out.

The project which started in 2006 before its launch in 2008 was created by a team of 35 individuals from different walks of life  that met in seven workshops and a series of subcommittee meetings on a voluntary basis to analyze the factors that will influence the future development of the nation, and have built four logically consistent and thought provoking scenarios of the future of Nigeria. These scenarios, which situate Nigeria at crossroads - Naija Junction, include:
  • Parambulator
  • Jaja Republic
  • Shine Your Eye
  • We Don Win

Parambulator

A roundabout story of how to get from where you were to where you were in about 18 years.

Jaga Jaga Republic

A story of how self-seeking leadership, endemic corruption, a populace rendered supine by apathy and superstition, ethnic distrust, religious strife, and elitist power struggle all contribute to destroying the Nigerian nation.

Shine Your Eye

A story of a people that seek salvation from a small clique of leaders who are able to deliver some economic gains at the high price of brutal repression of individual freedom and self actualization.

We don Win

A story of how, with remarkable foresight and fortitude, Nigerians are able to raise their nation from its slumber to become Africa’s largest economy and a leading member of the G20.
